This week we will be having our Christmas Party.

We will also hold a short Special General Meeting during which we will ask members to vote on some revisions to the constitution of our Community Group.

A shorter work session this week. Only essential Winter tasks in the Garden so that we can have a small celebration.

Last Green Gym of the year next week.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Voluteering

Make a Difference: Volunteer

It is difficult to say precisely what work we will be undertaking each week in advance as it is dependent upon the weather, the number of volunteers who turn up, our funding and the availability of materials for tasks.

The following list should be only used as a guide, however we will always try to offer a range of different tasks and opportunities to suit everyone.

With funding in place work can continue with our main projects which were begun during the summer:

1. To continue to improve usefulness of our growing area for vegetable growing and biodiversity.

  • Build woven hazel fence around parts of perimeter of small pond; create loggery on one side, planted-up with marginals.

  • Build pathways to storage areas and lower area.

  • Rebuild raised beds with more robust timbers/sleepers.

2. Creating our Beth Chatto-style gravel garden with wooden seat.

3. Refurbish natural seating area as sliced tree trunk benches now need replacing.

4. Remove self-seeded dog roses and other bushes from bed next to tool shed; tidy-up bed, and restock with perennials.

But don’t worry there is always seasonal maintenance tasks and plenty of more gentle gardening work weeding, pruning, watering and lawn edging.

Turning the Compost bins.

Sweeping up leaves from lawns and paths.

Tool maintenance and cleaning the shed.

Litter picking and cleaning up dog mess.

Having fun and getting fit for free in the open air and sun.
