Programme at Penge Green Gym

Penge Green Gym

6 years and still going strong

It is difficult to say precisely what work we will be undertaking each week in advance as it is dependent upon the weather, the number of volunteers who turn up, our funding and the availability of materials for tasks.

We will always try to offer a range of different tasks and opportunities.

This Week in Penge our tasks may include:

1. To continue to improve usefulness of our growing area:

  • Creating a small pond to increase biodiversity, possibly with a woven hazel fencing and/or living willow fence.

  • Continue building stronger raised beds.

2. Repair/re-build insect hotels located around the gardens.

3. Making a start on building our Beth Chatto-style gravel garden.

4. Refurbish natural seating area as sliced tree trunk benches now need replacing.

But don’t worry there is always plenty of more gentle gardening work weeding, pruning, watering and lawn edging.

Turning the Compost bins.

Tool maintenance and cleaning the shed.

Litter picking and cleaning up dog mess.

Having fun and getting fit for free in the open air and sun.

Open Day 2017

Winsford Gardens Open Day

11am- 4pm Sunday 4th June 2017

Penge Green Gym is delighted to announce that this year, our annual Winsford Gardens Open Day will be attended by the new Mayor of Bromley.

6th Open Day

Penge Green Gym has now been running for over six years, and Sunday 4 June will be the sixth time we have held such an event to show off our many achievements and aims. As last year, we decided to hold the event on the Sunday following the Penge Festival Fete as a part of the Penge Festival.

Last year the weather wasn’t kind to us, and we are hoping for some summer sun this year, even though attendance was great.

This year we won’t be changing from a formula that has worked extremely well in the past, so you can expect all the old favourites – plant for sale, cakes and refreshments, treasure hunt, face painting and other kids activities, and live music.
