Our Winsford Gardens Summer

Programme at Penge Green Gym

Penge Green Gym

6 years and still going strong

It is difficult to say precisely what work we will be undertaking each week in advance as it is dependent upon the weather, the number of volunteers who turn up, our funding and the availability of materials for tasks.

The following list should be only used as a guide, however we will always try to offer a range of different tasks and opportunities to suit everyone.

Now that we have been given funding from Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ work can begin on our two main summer projects:

1. Creating a small pond to increase biodiversity, possibly with a woven hazel fencing and/or living willow fence.

2. Making a start on building our Beth Chatto-style gravel garden.

This Week our tasks may also include:

1. Repair/re-build insect hotels located around the gardens.

2. Refurbish natural seating area as sliced tree trunk benches now need replacing.

But don’t worry there is always plenty of more gentle gardening work weeding, pruning, watering and lawn edging.

Turning the Compost bins.

Tool maintenance and cleaning the shed.

Litter picking and cleaning up dog mess.

Having fun and getting fit for free in the open air and sun.

Love Parks Week 14-23 July 2017

Why not join us this week as part of

Love Parks Week?

Come along to Winsford Gardens at 11am on Wednesday 19th July 2017.

Our big Summer projects are our Pond and Beth Chatto-style gravel garden. We’ve measured up and estimated what materials are required. We’ve even made a start on digging the pond. Now we have our funding in place courtesy of the Tesco ‘bags of help’ scheme.
